BREEAM New Construction

The 30,000m2 building occupies a 25 hectare site on the existing University of Warwick campus, forming a hub of Warwick Manufacturing Group research and education buildings.

BREEAM Rating: Excellent
Client: MEPC

The National Automotive Innovation Campus (NAIC) will serve as a national hub for automotive design research, spanning 30,000 m² on the University of Warwick campus. It will feature facilities such as collaborative R&D spaces, engineering areas for advanced powertrains, design studios, and offices, accommodating up to 1,000 people.

The building aims for a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, with potential for ‘Outstanding’ status. Carbon.Climate.Certified conducted detailed feasibility studies to explore this goal. Significant design analysis focuses on the roof and façade to ensure BREEAM compliance, along with building services that connect to a CHP District Heat network and include roof-mounted PV for energy efficiency.

The site will enhance biodiversity with a new swale and native habitats while promoting bicycle and public transport use by providing extensive facilities. Our role included BREEAM Assessment, stakeholder engagement, strategic feedback for value engineering, and input on fit-out requirements for sub-leased areas
