WHOLE LIFE CARBON ASSESSMENT

The objective of a Whole Life Carbon Assessment is to investigate, report and ultimately mitigate carbon impact throughout a project’s lifecycle.

Whole Life-Cycle Carbon (WLC) emissions are the carbon emissions resulting from the materials, construction and the use of a building over its entire life, including its demolition and disposal.

A WLC assessment provides a true picture of a building’s carbon impact on the environment.

Our Whole Life Carbon reporting is championed by trained, experienced consultants who can advise and support options appraisal, future comparison of results and allow benchmarking and target setting.

We currently work to a number of primary benchmarks available within the UK market – those provided by the Low Energy Transformation Initiative (LETI) and RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge. These allow a client to see how their buildings perform in comparison to these benchmarks and if they align with recognised Net Zero Carbon pathways such as the UKGBC Net Zero Carbon Framework.

Our WLC reporting process is guided by the RICS Whole life carbon assessment for the built environment’ Professional Statement (November 2017). The document aims to standardise whole life carbon assessments, and provides specific guidance on the methodology outlined in EN 15978.

Our Whole Life Carbon reporting can be used to provide;

  • Net Zero Carbon alignment & certification

  • GLA London Plan compliance reporting

  • GRESB reporting

  • Greenhouse Gas calculation and reporting (Scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions)

  • EU Taxonomy reporting
