Details
Delivering a high-density, fully self-contained student development in an urban setting while meeting top-tier sustainability criteria required a carefully integrated approach. Reducing embodied and operational carbon, ensuring high-quality indoor environments, and maintaining construction efficiency were key goals. Achieving a 56% carbon reduction compared to baseline targets was especially ambitious given the constraints of a city centre site.
We provided BREEAM guidance and assessment from early design through to final certification. The project’s off-site prefabricated Light Gauge Steel construction method helped minimise waste and reduce site impact. The building’s energy strategy, combining passive design, efficient systems, and a Combined Heat and Power plant, delivered strong performance and long-term environmental benefits. With robust communal spaces, secure cycle storage, and light-filled interiors, this development not only meets but exceeds the expectations of modern, sustainable student living.
